This is Matt's version of a Tri Tip Sandwich.  You won't believe how good this is.  I made it 3 nights in a row since once just was not enough.
Main Ingredients
Ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 pound Tri Tip (Trimmed)
  • Pepper Plant BBQ Sauce (or your favorite sauce)
  • 1 Cube Real Butter (softened)
  • 4 Ciabatta Sandwich Loafs (I found the sandwich size rolls at Scolaries.  The label actually says "Asiago Ciabatta Roll 4CT)
  • Salt and Pepper

Directions:

  • Season the Tri Tip and Cook on BBQ until your liking.  I reccomend medium rare to medium.
  • Remove from BBQ and let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Cut Ciabatta bread down the center and place on the BBQ until lightly browned.
  • Butter the bread AFTER you brown it.  If you butter it first it will be soggy.  This way it stays cripy and holds the butter like an english muffin.
  • Thinly slice the tri tip and arrange on bottom of Ciabatta bread.
  • Drizzle with BBQ sauce and add the top piece of bread.
